Price Range $1–10

Manuscript Coffee sits quietly on W Oak St in downtown Laurel, serving up thoughtfully crafted coffee in a setting that balances rustic charm with a touch of greenery. The space manages to feel inviting without being overwhelming—bright enough to spark conversation but calm enough to relax or get some work done. It’s the kind of spot where locals might swing by for a mid-morning cappuccino or an afternoon iced latte, especially on warmer days when the iced drinks like their well-balanced Chai latte hit just right.

The menu isn’t overloaded with options, but what’s here is clearly well executed. Espressos, cortados, and cappuccinos stand out as crowd-pleasers, and for those looking to shake things up, iced mochas or cold brews offer refreshing alternatives. Prices stay reasonable, making it a straightforward choice for your daily coffee ritual. Plus, their loose leaf teas and matcha lattes provide a nice detour from the usual coffee lineup.

Manuscript’s atmosphere naturally draws folks who appreciate a quiet moment without total silence. It’s a spot where you might find someone typing away on a laptop, friends catching up over a shared cookie, or parents quietly enjoying a coffee while their toddlers explore the well-laid-out space. The small touches—like the leafy plants and clean, minimal décor—make the environment comfortable without any fuss.

Wes, the owner, adds a personal touch that makes the experience feel less transactional and more about genuine connection to the Laurel community. Whether you’re a local familiar with the pace and vibe of downtown or just passing through, this coffee shop fits seamlessly into the neighborhood rhythm. Stop by in the late morning or early afternoon; it’s perfect for a casual break or a simple pick-me-up on a stroll through town.

We stopped here while passing through Laurel and I LOVE the atmosphere! The people are nice, the drinks are delicious! My husband got an iced mocha with brown sugar and I got an iced Chai latte and this drink is the PERFECT balance of chai and milk! The set-up was great for my 2-year-old because it was well-laid-out. The plants also add a nice touch, and combined with the clean rustic aesthic and simplistic design, it makes for a warm, inviting, and refreshing feel, with a comforting vibe.

I tried this coffee at a friend’s house in Nashville and had to have it!!! I’m very particular about my coffee so I ordered some as soon as I got home. I have the Dark Thirty and Brazil Roast and both are INCREDIBLE!! I would’ve given 5 stars, but the shipping took over 3 weeks (2 separate orders), which is pretty crazy. I’m definitely hooked, and love supporting small businesses, but really hope they can do something about their shipping time. :) :)

In the heart of downtown Laurel, Ms. This code house carries such a beautiful vibe inside. It's just quiet enough to carry a conversation but loud enough to keep it from being a library. The coffee they serve is very fair on pricing and absolutely delicious.

A total gem! This is the cutest coffee place and they have great coffee. Wes (the owner) was so kind and was such a pleasure to chat with. I had a cappuccino and a cookies and cream cookie and it made my day. Also got a free sticker which is a plus. Highly recommend this place

First off, any coffee place with a roaster in plain view is tops for sure. The coffee did not disappoint. It was a good blend with a varied profile. What was lacking was choice? Not only was the food menu scarce (one muffin), but the lack of multiple roasts was a little baffling. I understand scalability but offer pour overs if waste is a concern. Show off those roasts. Good stop, could be a hidden gem.

Manuscript Coffee is a nice place! My daughter and I went there while walking around in Laurel and deciding to get a cup of coffee. Wes, the owner and operator, was very friendly and attentive. He politely spoke to us while making us our order and made us feel like we were old friends. The coffee is very good and the atmosphere is quaint and cozy. Definitely a place to frequent and try more options from the menu!

The owner is a treat and the customer service is superb! Our drinks came out strong and quick, unlike my 40min wait across the street.
